Configuring Custom Mailings

To configure custom mailings, click Configure / Mailings (Email Templates). A list of any existing mailings will be displayed. To view, edit, or delete an existing mailing, click the View, Edit, or Del links. To add a new mailing, click the Add New button at the top.

You do not define a mailing as a particular type, but simply configure the mailing with appropriate content and "search and replace" parameters depending on the type of mailing you are using it for.

Mailings are defined by the following options:

Mailing Name
The mailing name - this will appear drop downs within SOLO Server so you can identify which mailing to select.
Mailing ID
System generated unique ID for the mailing.
Enabled
Whether the mailing is enabled. If not checked, any requests to send this mailing will be skipped.
From Name
The name the email should be from. On some mail clients, this name is shown in place or in addition to the email address.
From EMail
The from email address.
Subject
The subject of the message.
Body (Text)
The body of the email message in text format.
Body (HTML)
The body of the email message in HTML format.
HTML Preview
When editing a mailing and HTML content is specified, an HTML Preview field will be exposed allowing previewing the rendered content in real time.
Test Mailing
The "Send Test Mailing" button will send an email to the email address of the current SOLO Server User who is logged in. This test mailing will not replace any parameters with values, and they will still be listed as parameters such as [varLicenseID]. To see the email with the parameters replaced, you must trigger the event that sends the email.
Important

Note that some built in mailings support only text or only HTML format. In cases where both HTML and text emails are supported, SOLO Server will first look to see if HTML is defined. If so, the HTML is used, otherwise it will look for the text version.

List of Custom Mailings

Here is the list of mailings, and each topic includes the available "search and replace" parameters and details on how to send the mailing. Where appropriate, the topic will also include information about configuring the corresponding Daily Process.
