Product Catalog Overview
In SOLO Server, you can define the products you are licensing and/or selling using various settings. This is done through a Product Catalog with a two level hierarchy: Products and Product Options. Each Product can have multiple Product Options.
For software, the Product is the name of your software, and the Product Option refers to a specific version or license of that product.
Product Options can be sold/distributed to customers, and each Product Option can be configured with different settings to result in different licenses, upgrades, or renewals such as:
- Non-expiring License
- One Year Subscription License
- Lite Version License
- Enterprise Version License
- Upgrade from Lite to Enterprise Version License
- Single-User License
- Network 5-User License
- Software Maintenance Subscription Renewal
- etc.
Some of the settings you choose will be dependent on which SoftwareKey licensing client you are using, and how you have implemented the licensing into your software.
E-Commerce
If using SOLO Server's integrated e-Commerce, you can choose what Product Options new customers are allowed to buy through the shopping cart, and only include those purchase links on your website.
You can also configure Rules to restrict the purchase of certain Product Options based on chosen criteria, such as needing to have purchased a "Lite Version License" to be eligible to purchase the "Upgrade from Lite to Enterprise Version License". This is enforced by having existing customers log into the Customer License Portal to access these upgrade or renewal Product Options.
