Question:  Import connect .csv files using RDVImport
[Email To a Friend]
Answer:  You can import the free Oildex connect .csv files if you have version 1.3 of the RDV Checkstub import program. Follow the following instructions: (1.) Download the latest verstion of the RDV Checkstub program from the web at http://www.orlandoproducts/download/impsetup.exe (2.) Download the Excel csv template from http://www.orlandoproducts.com/download/Connect_template.csv (3.) Cut and Paste the data portion of the Connect .csv file below the column headers. Do not include the column headers and the totals line. (4.) Paste this information into the template below the column headers. (5.) Cut and paste zero's into the last two columns OwnDec and GrsVol. Only paste sufficient zeros to match the number of records which were pasted into the file. If you know the proper Owner Decimal interest, you can input them into the OwnDec column. (6.) Reformat the currency values to a decimal format. Highlight data in columns J-M, right mouse click, choose format cells, click on Number. Set decimal digits to 2 and uncheck the checkbox for 1000's separator. (7.) Save the file as a .csv file using a different name. Use the Save As option from the File menu. Close the excel program. (8.) Remember the file name and run the Royalty Checkstub Import tool. Select the OilDex import and supply the file name used above. If the file is still open in a spreadsheet then it will be locked and the Checkstub program will not be able to open it. (9.) Map the fields into the database as needed. Your data will then be imported. If you do not wish to use the template or your data is in another format use the following. Remeber, the case is important: Delete all but 1 line above the column headers. (1.) Remove the space in front of the Check# column. It should read just Check#. (2.) Remove space between Check Date. It should read CheckDate. (3.) Production Date should be FromProdDate. (4.) Production type or code should be ProdCode. (5.) Remove space between Int Type, should be IntType for the Interest Type. (6.) Owner's Net Volume should be OwnNetVol. - This field will be ignored. (7.) Owner's Gross Value should be OwnGrsVal. (8.) Owner's Deductions should be OwnDeduct. (9.) Owner's Net Value should be OwnNetVal. (10.) Add columns for OwnDec (Owner's Decimal Interest) and GrsVol (Gross Volume). If you do not know the values for these fields, add Zeros for them. You must also convert the currency values to decimal values. See item 6 in the first set of instructions above. You can now save the file and use it as described above. Use the OilDex format. Because the file format are incomplete, not all fields of the Checkstub table will be populated. You will need to use the OilDex format files to get the additional information.
