Real Time Inventory Management
SOLO Server offers the option of setting up product options to use real time inventory tracking. To enable inventory tracking, check the Track Inventory field on the Edit Product Option page and configure the Allow Backorder, Stock Quantity, and Minimum Stock Quantity fields. For product options with inventory tracking set up, SOLO Server will automatically decrement the stock quantity on the product option every time a license is added for that product option, either online or through the authors interface.
When online orders are placed with tracked items, SOLO Server will check the inventory levels upon order processing. If the order will cause the inventory level to drop below either zero or the Minimum Stock Quantity, a notification will be sent to users with the Manage Inventory permission. In addition, if the product option is set up to not allow backorders, any order that will cause the quantity to drop below zero will be declined. If the stock quantity reaches zero for an product option that does not allow backordering, any existing customers with the item in their cart will see a SOLD OUT message appear on the line item, and no other customers will be able to add the item to their cart.
In addition, users with the Manage Inventory permission can use the Manage Inventory page to view and update current stock levels on tracked options. To do so, from the menu select Store / Inventory. A list of tracked product options will appear, with the current stock quantity in text fields on the right. To update inventory levels, simply set the current stock quantity in the text fields and click Submit Changes.
